Beyond Business Connections
VEDP Australia 300
Beyond Business Connections is working with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) to continue to promote the State of Virginia, USA as an ideal investment destination for Australian companies.
The campaign will see the Governor of Virginia, Mr Timothy M. Kaine, write a personal letter to approximately 300 leading Australian companies to recognize their success and to inform them of the significant advantages Virginia offers for investment.
Virginia is centrally located along the east coast of the United States - strategically placed for international trade and easily accessible to many American markets. For three years in a row, Forbes.com has ranked Virginia as America’s “Best State for Business” because of its dynamic workforce, business-friendly climate and enviable quality of life.
The VEDP offers a wide range of business services. It was established in 1995 to better serve those seeking a prime business location and increased trade opportunities. The VEDP understands the complicated demands of the site selection process and offer years of experience to simplify the process of weighing up Virginia as an investment location. Specifically, assistance would be provided in market research and developing a visit program of qualified potential partners.
The VEDP’s International Investment Manager for Australia, Mr. Grant Cothran, will be visiting Australia in the third quarter of 2009 to meet with Australian companies interested in exploring USA opportunities.
Contact Us to request any additional information on Virginia’s business opportunities or to express interest in meeting with Grant Cothran while he is in Australia.
VEDP Trade Mission 21-27 September 2008
Visit www.exportvirginia.org for further information on the VEDP International Trade Division.
Beyond Business Connections worked closely with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) to coordinate a Trade Mission to Australia for four Virginia companies, from 21-27 September 2008. The five-day business matching itinerary included travel to three Australian cities: Melbourne (Victoria) for two days, Canberra (Australian Capital Territory) for one day and Sydney (New South Wales) for two days. Representatives of the South Australian government also attended meetings with the participants.

The primary goal of the trade mission was to introduce Virginia business people to qualified contacts and potential partners in Australia.
The mission was led by Ms Diane Thomas, International Trade Manager for the VEDP. Diane gained a more in-depth understanding of the Australian market and feels that it is worth pursuing in future trade missions.
Contact details for the four companies that participated in the mission is outlined below or click here for more info. Please contact Karyn Walker if you are interested in finding out more about these companies or if you would like to discuss the development of an Australian visit program.
